#AdventuresBeyondBoundaries: These are not holidays. These are adventures and so by their very nature, extremely risky. You really are putting both your health and life at risk. That’s the whole point. Your chances of being seriously injured or dying as a result of taking part are high. There have been plenty of instances where individuals who have taken on roads less traveled have been permanently disfigured, seriously disabled or lost their life.
28 July 2018: A day that I will remember for all the good reasons!
Having successfully led my team into Magadan, the easternmost part of Siberia, Russia, after having successfully completed the Dominar Trans-Siberian Odyssey that took the team and me across Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Mongolia and Russia and ended over the fifth most dangerous road in the world, The Road of Bones.
28 July 2018: The plan was to be riding on the Dalton Highway, which is the sixth most dangerous road in the world and continuing chasing #AdventuresBeyondBoundaries
Keeping this date in mind, the tickets were booked for us to fly out of the country by the 23rd of July 2018. To that effect, after a formal flag off by the 13th of July in Pune, the bikes were crated at the Chakan plant of Bajaj Auto and handed over to the cargo agent who used the services of FedEx and had them airlifted straight to Atlanta, United States. From here, the machines were sent to Anchorage, Alaska, where Classic Motion Inc were our partners in getting the motorcycles cleared out of the US Customs and handing them over to us.
There is certain documentation around the whole process of having a temporary import into the United States, which is valid for a year. With the required documentation, you are all set to ride your own motorcycle in the United States for a whole year. This documentation is definitely not rocket science and I was able to coordinate with the required authorities and everything was in place almost a fortnight before handing over the motorcycles to the cargo agent.
It was a connect flight from Heathrow, as we boarded a flight from Mumbai to London and then onwards towards Anchorage, Alaska. It was such a pleasure to have got the endorsement of the Department of Homeland Security, US Customs and Border Protection on the 24th of July 2018, indicating the Dominar Polar Odyssey was actually on!!!
