A project that fell in place witin 100 days of having completed the previous ride`
This time I was dressed for success with Ideal Jawa supporting me with everything, including a test bike, required amount for all incidentals and a Project prepped bike. With a clear sight on Khardung La, I felt it more prudent to start from the sea level and at the stroke of midnight on the 11 Sept 1990, Basavaraj and me left Kanyakumari and hit the highways all the way towards Delhi from where I swerved towards Manali.. crossed the Rohtang Pass, then the Taglang La Pass at 17582 ft asl before finally reaching Leh onwards towards Khardung La at 18383 ft asl, the highest motorable rod in the World!
Return back to Delhi, and headed towards Varanasi towards Kathmandu and back towards Gorakhpur to Lucknow to Hyderabad to eventually finishing in Bangalore on the 5 Oct 1990.
With 11180 kms in 267 hours across 17 States & Nepal, including the World’shighest motorable road, I was able to re-write my own receord for the fastest cross country motorcycling!
This undoubtedly was THE foundation for the bigger ride that was to come …. The Yezdi Castrol Continental Raid
