Quite ironic you might say that we had the pass by a place called Burns Lake, and indeed, this place was actually burning! 2018 end of July or rather beginning of August is when there was a huge fire in this area and the entire administration was struggling to bring the fire under control. As […]

The next stop was Whitehorse and somewhere along between Dawson City and Whitehorse is when Dominar 2080 started giving problems. One, definitely yes, all our chains were in bad shape, but Dominar 2080 seemed to be having more problems than usual. Unexpectedly, the front tire of Dominar 2080 developed multiple punctures, and they were punctures […]
Continue ReadingArctic Circle once again!!
The Arctic Circle again, the second time in less than seven days after having covered the Arctic Circle on the Dalton Highway, The Dempster was definitely another challenging landmark. On reaching Eagle Plains, a proclamation of Arctic Circle crossing was handed over to us by the hotel guys, and it was time to bid adieu […]
Continue ReadingTHE SCIENCE OF MOTORCYCLE SEATS!!
Seats are one of the most ignored aspect of the motorcycle. Most people view seats from a cosmetic angle than from a perspective of comfort. THE BENEFITS OF A GOOD SEAT FOR A LONG RIDE 1. AVOID DISCOMFORT Prolonged exposure to any activity causes stiffness. More so on a motorcycle you can also experience numbness. The best motorcycle seats makes your trip comfortable 2. MANAGE HEALTH Most riders would have experienced the pain of spending long hours on the saddle. This gets exacerbated if you have pain in the tail bone, lower back or other areas. A good seat helps minimize these health issues. 3. THROW GOOD MONEY AFTER BAD Most stocked motorcycle seats aren’t particularly comfortable. Riders spend money to upgrade ready made alternatives till they find the most comfortable seats. A cost effective customized option saves you a lot of time, pain and money. 4. BREAKIN OR BREAK YOUR BACK As mentioned earlier stock seats can be hard and uncomfortable. It takes hours and hours of riding to break them in. The discomfort experienced in this process is not worth it. 5. INFREQUENT STOPS When you ride long distances you normally stop for a butt break and to stretch. A good seat decreases your stop frequency TYPES OF SEATS AVAILABLE FOR LONG RIDES While Seat pads are a popular choice, it comes with its own set of challenges with regard to comfort, durability, security and ergonomics 1. Air Cushion: This is a seat pad pumped with air to provide cushion to your butt. While popular, it has its own set of drawbacks. To determine the […]
Continue ReadingChallenges riding on the Dempster!!!
Riding on the Dempster was one of the biggest adventures I can ever think of. Not that the landscape or the wilderness was a challenge, the road itself was something that I was just not able to come to terms with. 1: The Bajaj Dominar’s was just about a basic bike. It did have the […]

Fairbanks along Alaska 11 is a very crucial junction where the road would either head towards the Prudhoe Bay that would be leading to the Arctic Circle and the Arctic Ocean. And at the same junction, you can hook up to the Yukon Highway that would take us across into Canada. We stayed at a […]
Continue ReadingLittle Gold Creek
We moved on from Fairbanks and headed towards the city of North Pole. This is where we would hook up into the Canadian side. Interesting is as you head on this lonely stretch, the elevation picks up and this highway is actually called the Top of the World Highway, and as you climb this highway […]
Continue ReadingTires and Jerry Cans
Over the last many posts that I have shared, I have noticed a consistent comment around 2 important aspects on my motorcycle. 1: Tires: 2: The positioning of the additional 2 x 1 gallon jerry cans on either side of the crash guard. 1: Tires. Yes, possibly, the most vital component after the motorcycle itself […]
Continue ReadingAn Encounter with the Grizzly!!!
Having finished with the customary picture session, we headed towards the Deadhorse Camp, a place where we would stay that night and next. This place will be remembered for an up close and personal interaction with a grizzly and the first to sight was Dominar 2080, who was trying to park his motorcycle behind the […]
Continue ReadingSmall crash on Dalton Highway !!
As we hit on this stretch, we had the first incident of Dominar 2090 having a crash (the second fall) on the Dalton Highway as he simply was not able to manage the gravel terrain, which can actually be very tricky as you ride and can shift so suddenly that you are bound to lose […]
